Visitation & Celebration of life service for Alice Norene Saunders Carr, age 101, of Hazard, Kentucky will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21 St Street, Newark, Ohio. Interment will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.

Norene passed away on October 10, 2023 at the Noreen and Greg Wells Hospice Care Center, Hazard, Kentucky. Norene was born at Lake, WV to her parents, Walter Miness Saunders and Elsie (McNeely) Saunders. In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her husband, Lee Denver Carr; son, Terrance Lee Carr, son in law Bud Murphy; Brothers: Walter Saunders, Dennis Saunders and Cecil Saunders: sisters: Elma McDonald and Dora Kirk.

Norene is survived by her children: Diana Ruth Murphy of Lake WV, Dannie Miness Carr (Mary) of Trinity, NC, Randall Carl Carr (Debra) of Somerset, OH, James Emil Carr (Darlene) of Newark OH, and Velvadean Carr Varney (Grady) of Hazard KY. Brothers: Leon (Maxine) of Newark, OH and James (Sandy) of Newark, OH, Sisters: Evelyn Robinette of Columbus, OH, Nina McDonald, Newark, OH and Carol Smith of Newark, OH.

Grandchildren, Tena, Bryan, Theresa, Robert, Dannie Lee, Lynn, Randa, Laura, J.C., Rex, Raymie, Jeff, Jaylene, Chris, and Scott, and a host of Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren.

Norene lost her husband at the age of 30 and dedicated her life to raising her six children. She loved quilting and cooking. She served as a cook at Lake Grade School for 10 years and raised her children by gardening and canning foods.
