Avon Pratt born March 27, 1935 departed this life on Saturday December 30, 2023 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky being 88-years old.  Avon was born in Cornettsville, Kentucky the son of the late James W. Pratt and the late Adele Ison Pratt.  Other than his parents, Avon was also preceded in death by his wife of 63-years, Ola Faye Pratt; brothers, Eugene Pratt and Vernis Pratt; sister, Delano Day; grandson, Jonah Aaron Pratt.  Avon was a U.S. Navy Veteran, retired federal mine inspector, a member of the Big Leatherwood Old Regular Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and antique cars.

Avon Pratt leaves the following relatives to cherish his memory: two sons, Richard Avon Pratt & Rita of Viper and Jeffrey Wayne Pratt & Michelle of Viper; grandchildren, Kelli Erin Callihan & Christian of Avawam, Michael Wayne Pratt & Katlyn of Viper, Christopher Ryan Pratt of Viper, and Mavis Evon Lee Pratt of Viper; great-grandchildren, Harper Jaymes Callihan and Leighton Blair Callihan; also a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends survive.

Visitation for Avon Pratt will be conducted on Tuesday January 2, 2024 from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M.  at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with an additional short service to be held that evening.  Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday January 3, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Danny Dixon, Scotty Halcomb, and Jim Fields officiating.  The Interment will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery at Jeff, Kentucky.  Military Rites will be conducted by the Hazard-Perry County D.A.V. Chapter #64.  In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bluegrass Care Navigators or East Kentucky Veterans Center.
