Benjamin Franklin Hughes born November 30, 1948 departed this life on Tuesday – March 25, 2025 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky being 76-years old. Ben was born in Hazard, Kentucky the son of the late Elisha Hughes and the late Nancy Ann Noble Hughes. Other than his parents, Ben was also preceded in death by his grandson, Jaxson Connor Hughes; brothers, Glenn Noble, Don Gwin, Jimmy Dale Hughes, Kenneth Hughes, and Lynn Ellis Hughes; sisters, Janice Carol Smith, and Jacqueline Miller.

Ben enjoyed life and lived it the fullest, he loved going on hikes and Bluegrass music. Ben had a loving, charitable personality, always helping others and lending a helping hand. Ben was a Shriner and member of the Hardburly Masonic Lodge, and the County Line Community Church.

Benjamin Franklin Hughes leaves the following relatives to cherish his memory: daughters, Rhonda Hughes-Holland & Larry of Hazard, KY and Misty Hughes & Mike of Krypton, KY; brothers, Elisha Hughes, Jr. & Anna of Hazard, Taylor Hughes & Judy of Hazard, Robert Hughes & Rhonda of Hazard, and Elvin Gwin of Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Etta Joan Baker of Hazard and Ruby Hughes of Illinois; grandchildren, Dakota Hughes, Ethan Moore, and Aiden Jax Hughes; also a host of other relatives & friends survive.

Funeral Services for Benjamin Franklin Hughes will be conducted on Saturday – March 29, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Gary Riley & Teddy Bailey officiating.  The Interment will follow in the Hughes-Whitaker Cemetery located at Clear Fork. The Visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Friday – March 28, 2025 from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. with Masonic Rites to be held at 7:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital or Hospice.
