Betty Joyce Hurt born June 14, 1947 departed this life on Sunday January 5, 2025 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard being 77 years old. Betty was born in Hazard, Kentucky the daughter of the late Johnny Hurt and the late Samantha Deaton Hurt. Other than her parents, Betty was also preceded in death by her brothers, Virgil Hurt, John Hurt, Jr.; sisters, Nancy Barlowe, Freda Wagers, Patricia Smith; two great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons. Betty loved listening to Elvis and watching Gunsmoke.

Betty Joyce Hurt leaves the following relatives to cherish her memory: sons, Kevin Scott Newberry of Bonnyman, Donnie Newberry & Donna of Cincinnati, OH; daughters, Kim Bush & Brad of Krypton, Samantha White of Grapevine, Frances Moore of Montgomery Creek; brother, Bobby Hurt & Ruby of Bessemer, AL; sisters, Shirley Tricker of Bonnyman, Donna Lou Reed & Bob of Wooton, KY; brother-in-law, Kerry Smith of Peebles, OH; special granddaughter & grandson, Rebecca & Jimmy Baker of Typo; Nineteen Grandchildren, Thirty One Great-Grandchildren. A host of other relatives and friends survive.

Visitation for Betty Joyce Hurt will be conducted on Thursday January 9, 2025 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home from 11:00 till 1:00 P.M. Memorial Services will be conducted on Thursday January 9, 2025 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home at 1:00 P.M. with Virgil Hurt, Jr. officiating.
