Carl Edward Lewis born July 5, 1945 departed this life on Thursday December 5, 2024 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard being 79 years old. Carl was born in Hazard, Kentucky the son of the late Lillie Lewis and the late Floie Lewis. Other than his parents, Carl was also preceded in death by his siblings, Clifton Lewis, Callie Lewis, Alvin Lewis, Curtis Lewis, Milford Lewis, Clayton Lewis, Beulah Mae Jent, Ollie Hensley, Geraldine Napier and Keno Lewis. Carl worked as a coal miner for eighteen years and deeply loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as his special pets.

Carl Edward Lewis leaves the following relatives to cherish his memory: wife of 53 years, Shirley Lewis of Viper; sons, Glen Edward Lewis & Jen of Hamilton, OH, Carl Steven Lewis & Danielle of Hazard; daughters, Mary Ann Davis & Mark of Cincinnati, OH, Karla Sue Salmon & Lincoln of Oviedo, FL, Tina Rae Yetman & Michael of Keystone Heights, FL, Melanie Ann Fugate & Jeremy of Hazard; brother, Pearl Dean Lewis & Lorietta of Somerset, KY; special neighbors, Marty Wooton, Crystal Jent & Gary; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends survive.

Visitation for Carl Edward Lewis will be conducted on Monday December 9, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home. The Interment will follow in the Lewis Cemetery located at Viper, Kentucky.
