Charles William Skiles born October 6, 1934 departed this life on Monday – July 6, 2026 at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard, Kentucky being 91-years old.  Charles was born in Perry County the son of the late Jeffery Skiles and the late Sue Hall Baker.  Other than his parents, Charles was also preceded in death by his step-father, Troy Baker; son-in-law, Lonnie Smith; and Brother, Edward Skiles.

Charles was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served honorably for 21-years.  During that time, he was deployed during the Vietnam War, Korean War, and Cuban Missile Crisis.  Charles retired from the Hazard Police Department, where he had served faithfully for 41-years until retirement.  Charles always enjoyed a good western on T.V. and listening to Ralph Stanley.  Charles attended Lothair Church of Christ, where he had been a member for 10 plus years.

Charles William Skiles leaves the following relatives to cherish his memory: wife of 63-years, Janice Skiles of Hazard, KY; daughter, Donna Smith of Hazard, KY; granddaughter, Amy Lopez & Michael Tyler of Jasper, Alabama; great-grandson, Asher Michael Lopez; special niece, Tara Coots; also a host of many other relatives & friends survive.

Visitation for Charles William Skiles will be held on Monday – July 13, 2026 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M.  Funeral Service will follow at 7:00 P.M. with Larry Henderix officiating.  Military Rites will be conducted by the Hazard-Perry County D.A.V Chapter #64.  Interment will be later at the Francis Branch Cemetery located at Jeff, Kentucky.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in honor of Charles William Skiles and the service to his country at 200 Veterans Drive – Hazard, Kentucky 41701.
