Connie Sue Smith born July 8, 1954 departed this life on Thursday – July 9, 2026 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky being 72-years old.  Connie was born in Hazard, Kentucky the daughter of the late Farmer Lewis and the late Zona Hall Lewis.  Other than her parents, Connie was also preceded in death by her brother, Shadel Lewis.

Connie was a member of the Smith Camp Pentecostal Church where she had stood by her husband pastoring for close to 30-years.  Connie was the mother of the church, served as the song leader, and was a spiritual leader to her brothers & sisters.  Her love for Christ was evident and shined brightly to her children, grandchildren, neighbors and church family.

Connie Sue Smith leaves the following relatives to cherish her memory: husband of 46-years, Alfred Smith of Viper, KY; daughter, Lacy Tapio of Viper, KY; son, Joel Smith & Mikka of Viper, KY; two brothers, Delbert Lewis & Elaine of Huntington, IN and Billy Darrell Lewis & Shirley of Viper, KY; six grandchildren, MaKenzie Callahan & Dalton, Rilee Smith, Ryder Tapio, Kaelyn Tapio, Preslee Smith, and Boone "Boo Boo" Smith; also a host of nieces, nephews, church family and many other friends & relatives survive.

Funeral Services for Connie Sue Smith will be conducted on Sunday – July 12, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Steve McDaniel and Aaron Feltner officiating.  The Interment will follow in the Brummett-Dunn Cemetery located at Viper, Kentucky.  The Visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M.  In lieu of flowers, donations may also be made to Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center – Hazard, Kentucky.
