Ellen Bailey born June 3, 1947 departed this life on Saturday September 21, 2024 at the Hazard A.R.H, being 77 years old. Ellen was born at Letcher County, Kentucky the daughter of the late William Ollie Bailey and the late Emaline Bailey. Other than her parents, Ellen was also preceded in death by her husband, Angelo Vanchieri, Jr; half-sister, Lorraine Bailey Riley.

Ellen was a daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She became a part of the Hazard Health & Rehabilitation Center family in 2006 and taught us that we are all family. We we're special family whether it was a daughter, sister, granddaughter or grandson. From her bedside we often traveled the streets of Baton Rouge, ate the best steaks and learned fancy dance moves. Some days we had "a brown cup of hot coffee" with Joe Montegna and then often ending our days watching law and order and westerns with Dale Robertson.

She taught us patience and that the little things matter most. Most of all, Ellen taught us love and she loved each of us differently. As you walked away from her bedside, you left with a smile, and your heart felt lighter but yet full.

Ellen's legacy will carry on and a quote by Thomas Campbell sums up her life beautifully. "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."

Visitation for Ellen Bailey will be conducted on Friday September 27, 2024 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home from 11:00 till 1:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday September 27, 2024 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home at 1:00 P.M. with Buddy Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Andy Ritchie Cemetery located at Fisty, Kentucky.
