Elsie Cottongame Allen born October 25, 1938 departed this life on Saturday – October 24, 2026 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky being 87-years old. Elsie was born at her home in Perry County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Charlie Cottongame and the late Ann Lampkins Cottongame. Other than her parents, Elsie was also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Allen; three sons: Charlie L. Martin, Bobby Joe Martin, and John Martin; daughter, Ethel Irene Miracle; three siblings: Fred Cottongame, Faye Cottongame, and Charles Ray Cottongame.

Elsie was a member of the First Creek Baptist Church at Bonnyman, Kentucky where in her former years was actively involved in the youth groups, and also formerly taught Sunday School. Elsie enjoyed crocheting, but most of all she adored the time she spent with her family.

Elsie Cottongame Allen leaves the following relatives to cherish her memory: children: Billy Paul Martin & Kyla of Chavies, KY, Fred Martin & Mary of London, KY, Mae James & Ray of Helen, GA and Donald Allen & Michelle of Hazard, KY; brother, Bill Cottongame & Bertha of Airport Gardens; special great grandchild, Kyla BG Martin; 19-grandchildren, 25-great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; special friends, Ronnie Dillion and Robert Kilbourne; also a host of many other relatives & friends survive.

Visitation For Elsie Cottingame Allen will be held on Tuesday – October 27, 2026 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday – October 27, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Eric Napier and Chris Fugate officiating. The Interment will follow in the Brewer’s Cemetery located at Airport Gardens in Hazard, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made towards funeral expenses.
