Gladys Coots born November 26. 1925 departed this life on Monday October 14, 2024 at her residence in Viper, Kentucky being 98-years old.  Gladys was born in Leslie County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Robert Causey and the late Emily Farley Causey.  Other than her parents, Gladys was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Castle Coots; daughter, Jeanette Coots; grandson, Joshua Castle Coots; brothers, Carl Causey, Coy Causey, and Ralph Causey; sisters, Bessie Clark, Victoria Crutcher, and Bobbie Hale.

Gladys was one of the founding members of the Maces Creek Church of God, she loved her church and serving the Lord.  Gladys was an avid gardener, quilt maker, and crocheting.  Gladys loved her family, and immensely enjoyed all of her grandchildren.

Gladys Coots leaves the following relatives to cherish her memory: son, Rev. Donnie Coots & Carlene of Viper, KY; grandchildren, Rev. Jeffrey Scott Coots & Shana of Viper, KY and Paula Combs & Lester of Hazard, KY; great-grandchildren, Kristen Combs & John, McKenzi Bailey & Zachary, Kaleb Coots & Melanie, Blake Combs & Kimberly Dyer, and Faith Schiess & Brent; great-great-grandchildren, Joshua, Avery, Isaac, Wrenley, Melody, and Elijah; beloved neighbor and friend, Thomas Messer; also a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends survive.

Visitation for Gladys Coots will be held on Friday evening at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M.  Funeral Services will be held on Saturday October 19, 2024 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Jeffrey Scott Coots officiating.  The Interment will follow in the Causey Family Cemetery located at Viper, Kentucky.  The following will serve as pallbearers: Blake Combs, John Combs, Zachary Bailey, Brent Schiess, Kaleb Coots, and Charlie Jackson.  In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Gladys to the Maces Creek Church of God at P.O. Box 1451 - Viper, Kentucky 41774.
