Greenberry Johnson passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday January 11, 2025 at the Leestown V.A. Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky being 98 years old.

Greenberry (Bee or Jim to family members) was born at his grandfathers home in Buckhorn, Kentucky on July 16th 1926. He was the 12th of 15 children. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph H. Johnson and Sylvia Elizabeth Johnson (nee Couch) and his siblings, Luther, Mary Johnson-Riley, Burley, Rilla Johnson-Webb, Lily Johnson, Callie Johnson-Wilder, David, Pearl, Edward, Polly Johnson-Moore, Ida Johnson-Nichols, Kay and Fay Johnson, and Emanuel.

Greenberry Johnson leaves the following relatives to cherish his memory: Nephews, James Ed Williams & Shelby, Asbell Johnson, Phil Wilder, Jimmy Nichols, Roger Johnson; Nieces, Edna Wilder-Matthews, Charlene Wilder-Yeager, Rose Wilder-Smoot, Betty Johnson-Walden, Carolyn Johnson-Cornthwaite, Linda Warwick, Geneva Winningham and multitudes of great, great, great, great, great, great, and at least 1 Great Great Great Great nieces and nephews who all loved him. Bee would always let us know to keep the "greats" coming.

Greenberry was a World War II Veteran having enlisted in the Army Air Corps on July 15, 1944 and was training to be a tail gunner when the war ended and having attained the rank of Sergeant. He served proudly as an Honor Guard many times at the services for fellow veterans.

Visitation for Greenberry Johnson will be held on Sunday January 19, 2025 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home from 12:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M.  Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Williams officiating.  The Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery at Buckhorn, Kentucky. Military Rites will be performed by the Hazard-Perry County D.A.V. Chapter #64.
