Herbert Banks formerly of Big Creek, Kentucky passed away at his residence in Bishopville, South Carolina on Friday – July 31, 2026 being 84-years old.  Herbert was born on April 5, 1942 in Big Creek, Kentucky to the late Henry Banks and the late Ora Allen Banks.  Other than his parents, Herbert was also preceded in death by his wife, Opal Jean Banks; sisters, twin, Helen Fields, and Louetta Dixon & John; brother-in-law, Paul Vanover & Evalee.  Herbert was a great provider for his family, working many years as a heavy equipment operator.  Herbert loved the outdoors, especially hunting and camping.  He loved family gatherings and was very artistic at an early age.  Herbert was a member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ at Smilax, Kentucky.

Herbert Banks leaves the following relatives to cherish his memory: children, Tammy Banks Wright & Andy of Hartsville, South Carolina, Scottie Banks & Gladys of Combs, KY, Tracy Wells & Richard of Corbin, KY and Shannon Arinder & Philip of Bishopville, South Carolina; brother-in-laws, Forrest Fields of Hamilton, OH and Millard Vanover & Gracie of Big Creek, KY; also a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends survive.

Funeral Services for Herbert Banks will be conducted on Thursday – August 6, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating.  The Interment will follow in the Vanover – Banks Cemetery located at Big Creek, Kentucky.  The Visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M.
