James Burton Oney born February 11, 1944 departed this life on Saturday March 16, 2024 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard being 80-years old. James was born in Hardburly, Kentucky the son of the late Clayton Wade Oney, Sr. and the late Etta Mae Conway. Other than his parents, James was also preceded in death by his significant other, Gladys Sue Gayheart; Brothers, Wade Oney, Thomas Oney, Darrell Oney, Charles Oney, Sr., David Oney, Wilbur Oney, and Houston Oney; one sister, Latonya Brewer. James was the Owner and Operator of Bargain House Furniture for over 35 years. James family and grandchildren meant everything to him, and he enjoyed building and doing repairs.

James Burton Oney leaves the following relatives to cherish his memory: son, Michael Gayheart & Aschia of Viper; daughter, Etta Mae Stacy & Anthony of Lotts Creek, KY; brother, Hubert "Tiny" Oney & Cheryl of Dayton, OH; sisters, Janice Powers & Willard of Dayton, OH, Carole Browning & Conley of Dayton, OH; special friends, Ed Daniels and Teresa Centers; Grandchildren, Jacob James Combs, Tesla Alexandria Combs, Anthony Adrian Stacy, Daniel Dakota Stacy, Madden Carter Gayheart, Bentley Blaine Stacy, Tucker Ridge Gayheart. A host of other relatives and friends survive.

A Celebration of Life for James Burton Oney will be conducted on Saturday March 23, 2024 at 3:00 P.M. at the Upper Second Creek Full Gospel Church with Jack Carter, Patrick Barnett and Ed Daniels officiating.
