James Garland Smith born July 22, 1946 departed this life on Sunday January 29, 2023 at the Hazard A.R.H. being 76-years old.  Garland was born in Lotts Creek, Kentucky the son of the late J. Garland Smith and the late Gladys Smith.  Other than his parents, Garland was also preceded in death by his Son, James Garland Smith, Jr.; Sister, Joyce Deanna Ritchie and Nephew, Steve Ritchie.

Garland had been a licensed Barber for over 55-years and was the owner and operator of Garland's Barber Shop for decades.  Garland was an avid horse trainer for many years and enjoyed showing horses.  Garland loved Basketball and had a special dedication to supporting his kids in their sporting endeavors.  Garland attended the Harvest Baptist Church.

James Garland Smith leaves the following relatives to cherish his memory: Wife, Linda Smith of Lotts Creek, KY; Sons, James Cordell Smith & Brooke of Lotts Creek, KY and Mitch Smith & Cecile of Lotts Creek, KY; Daughter, Stella DeAnna Smith & Matthew of Hazard, KY; Six Grandchildren, Aspyn, Pyper, Elaina, Abby, Ramsey Kate and Landry Jaymes;  also a host of other relatives and friends survive.

Visitation for James Garland Smith will be conducted on Wednesday evening at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.  Funeral Service will be on Thursday February 2, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Josh Feltner officiating.  The Interment will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery located at Lotts Creek, Kentucky.
