Joseph Paul Wassong JR. born February 21, 1949, departed this life on Saturday – September 13, 2025, at his residence in Hazard, Kentucky being 76-years old.  Joseph was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of the late Mr. Joseph Paul Wassong SR. and the late Mrs. Constance M. Brill  Wassong .  Other than his parents, Joseph was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Wassong; sister, Meredith Palermo; son, Matthew Paul Wassong.

Joseph Paul Wassong JR was a DECORATIVE MEMBER OF THE  101st AIRBORNE DIVISION "SCREAMING EAGLES".  Joseph Paul Wassong JR was also a recipient of BRONZE STAR MEDAL, VIET NAM CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ARMY COMMENDATION MEDAL, VIT NAM SERVICE MEDAL, NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, PARACHUTE BADGE.

Joseph Paul Wassong JR. leaves the following relatives to cherish his memory: wife, Alfie Maria Wassong; son, Joseph Paul Wassong III, Mark Ford; daughters, April Lynn Carter, Jenine Flynn, Suzanne Smith, Diane Dutt; brother, Michael Wassong; sister, Joan Hazen; a host of grandchildren survive.
