Joyce Marie Smith Stacy of Grapevine, KY traveled onward to her heavenly home on July 12, 2023. She was welcomed by her parents, Roy B. Smith and Agnes Basso Smith. And brother, Roy Wayne Smith..
Joyce loved music, birdwatching, family celebrations and traveling. Willie Nelson, Elvis Presley, and Tina Turner were among her favorite musical artists. Her latest travels took her to NYC, The Bahamas, and The Atlantic Ocean beaches. She was a 1961 graduate of M.C. Napier High School and played the clarinet in the Navajo Marching Band. After raising her daughter, she graduated from the Hazard Vocational School LPN Program and began her career as an office nurse for Dr. Mitchell Wicker. Advancing her education to become a Registered Nurse, she worked as his Office Nurse Manager serving the patients and community of Eastern KY. She retired from ARH Regional Medical Center after a rewarding career of nursing.
She shared her life with her High School Sweetheart and Husband of 62-years, a retired L&N carman, Tennessee Stacy, son of the late Columbus Stacy and Alma Mae Smith Stacy from Pigeon Roost, KY. Together they enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, and target shooting.
Blessed with a daughter, Janet Joa Stacy Noble of Maryville, TN who became her best friend and travel buddy. Joyce traveled light but always with a wide-brimmed hat and string of pearls.
She adored her grandchildren, Jarrod Brandon Noble of Knoxville, TN, Jacqlyn Stacy Noble and Jacob T. Noble of Maryville, TN. And was much loved by her great-grandchildren, Tyler Monroe Noble of Ocala, FL, Jarrod Brandon Noble II, Connor David Noble and Londyn Rylee Noble of Knoxville, TN, Hannah Grace Noble, Jenna Grace Noble and Sylias Cash Noble of Maryville, TN. Joyce cherished her time with each of them and took great pride in their accomplishments. She will always be remembered as Mom-Mom.
She was recently preceded by her Brother and Sister-In-Law, Kelsey Columbus "K.C" Stacy and Lois Ann Wells Stacy. She leaves behind Brother & Sister-In-Law, Bondy & Johnnie Faye Stacy of Chelsea, MI, Quentin Stacy & Zola of Hazard, KY, plus a host of nieces, nephews, one Aunt, Willa Faye Smith (the late Adrian) Stacy of Ary, KY, and a close childhood cousin, W.H. "Neal" (Pat) Combs of London, KY along with 1st, 2nd, 3rd generations of cousins; Brother, Johnny B. Smith (Peg) of Richmond, KY.
Receiving of Family and Friends will be on Saturday July 15, 2023 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home from 4:00 till 6:00 P.M. and on Sunday from 1:30 till 2:00 P.M. A Celebration of Life will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Sunday July 16, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. with Clayton Stacy officiating. Her earthly body will be laid to rest at the Smith Family Cemetery in Ary, KY after a graveside ceremony.
