Lawrence Sumner, Jr. (Chicken Man) born November 28, 1952 departed this life on Sunday June 11, 2023 at the University of Louisville Hospital being 70-years old. Lawrence was born in Hazard, Kentucky the son of Hoppy and Vernease Sumner.  Other than his Parents, Lawrence was also preceded in death by his Wife, Betty Sumner; One Daughter, Marie Ann Sumner; Two Brothers, J.E. Sumner and Bobby Darrell Sumner; One Sister, Marlene Conway. Lawrence loved fooling with chickens and dearly loved his grandbabies.

Lawrence Sumner, Jr. (Chicken Man) leaves the following relatives to cherish his memory: Two Daughters, Shelena Combs & Michael of Hazard, Cherise Traczyk of IN; Three Sons, Eric Sumner of Vicco, Craig Sumner & Khia of Hazard, Marcus Sumner & Kayla of Hazard; Two Brothers, Danny Sumner & Paula Kay of Vicco, Wallace Sumner of IN; Three Sisters, Val Caudill & Verlin of Vicco, Shirley Patel & Greg of OH, Phyllis Sue May & Lester of London, KY; Special Aunt, Aunt Bug; Eight Grandchildren, Victor Combs, Aubrey Sumner, Nolan Erskine, Addison Sumner, Liam Sumner, Parker Sumner, Kara Sumner, and Nova Sumner. Special Nieces, Norma & Joey Lewis, Londa & Michael Melton.  A host of other relatives and friends survive.

Funeral Services for Lawrence Sumner, Jr. (Chicken Man) will be conducted on Thursday June 15, 2023 at 12:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Michael Melton officiating. The Interment will follow in the Sumner Family Cemetery located at Vicco, Kentucky. The Visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 till 9:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations towards the funeral expenses.
