Logan Combs born on March 15, 1933 in Slemp, Kentucky, to Jim Combs and Dove Smith, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023. He was surrounded by family and friends the last few days, holding his hand and telling him how much he was loved. Logan was preceded in death by his Wife Bonnie Couch Combs; Sons, Michael Combs, Winfred Keith Combs, and James Wilson; Sisters, Cathlean McDaniel Lewis, Lovetta Combs Melton, Mollie Combs Asher, Margie Combs Williams, Dorothy Combs Campbell, Janice Combs Howell, and Helen Combs Lambert; Brothers, Jack Combs and Jimmy Combs; Grandson Bryan Wilson, Granddaughter Katelyn Wilson. And so many nieces and nephews.

When he was 14, he started working in the coal mines. In 1953, Logan enlisted in the United States Army. He served in Germany and made the rank of Corporal before getting out in 1955. Logan moved back to Kentucky and was married to Bonnie Couch on June 30, 1956. In 1965, Bonnie and Logan moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan. He worked at a service station in Ypsilanti before getting hired by Ford. He worked at the Ypsilanti Ford plant for 33 years.

Logan loved going up north with Bonnie to their cabin in Kalava, Michigan, going camping and fishing. They have lots of happy memories with Logan's best friend Wade Worsham and his wife Betty. He caught and canned a lot of salmon with lots of help from family. He liked shooting guns, collecting knives, and whittling. He always had a pocket knife, a screw driver, and a few bullets in his pockets. He made a lot of walking sticks and sling shots over the years. Logan really enjoyed teaching his son and nephews and nieces how to ride motorcycles, shoot guns, and fish. He enjoyed giving his son and nieces and nephews special nicknames too.

Logan took great pride in taking care of his home, his yard, his cars and trucks, and his tools. Logan liked having a garden every year. He always had lots of tomatoes that he enjoyed giving to neighbors, friends and family. And he also loved animals, he always had pets and liked feeding the squirrels and birds.

Logan was baptized in the First Free Will Baptist Church of Ypsilanti on March 22, 2015, and had many friends there including Ruby and Richard Shafer, Brother Walker, and Pastor Caudill. He loved giving out peppermints at church. And he had so many wonderful neighbors that he enjoyed talking to and helping out, and they were always helping him out too.

Logan had a very special caretaker, Maddie. She took care of Bonnie too, and has been just like family the past few years.

A funeral service will be held 10 am Saturday, February 25, 2023 at First Free Will Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 9 am (1244 Holmes Road, Ypsilanti). The family will receive friends at Stark Funeral Professionals 4-8 pm Friday, February 24, 2023 (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). Logan will be laid to rest at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton Township, Michigan.
