Margie Lynn Deaton, 62, passed away on February 9, 2026. Born on March 12, 1963, in Cook County, Illinois, Margie spent most of her life in Hazard, Kentucky — the place she proudly called home. Margie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary Wayne Deaton, and her sister, Sheila Kick.

She is survived by her children: Craig Feltner; David Feltner; Bill Deaton (Christy); and Breanna Deaton (Trenton). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Lilah Deaton; Harper and Hazel Deaton; Hannah, Millie, Waylon, and Kaydee Feltner; Adlee, Ellie, and Kayson Sizemore. She also shared a special bond with her nephew, John Deaton (Kari). Margie is also survived by her siblings: Kenneth Howard, Sandy Hinkle, and Lisa (Ann) Bonkowski.

Margie loved deeply and lived boldly. She was funny, a little fiery, and never short on personality or words. She enjoyed fishing, listening to Loretta Lynn, and spending time with her grandchildren, who were the true joy of her life. Whether she was watching her favorite shows, sharing stories, or simply sitting with family, she had a way of filling a room.

Margie leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forward — in laughter, in resilience, and in the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

We will be having a celebration of life on Saturday 2/14 12:00-3:00 (if more time is needed it will be provided) at the Appalachian Arts Alliance in Hazard, KY.
