Ruth Ann Herrington, 69, of Danville passed away Saturday, November 15, 2025. Born in Danville on September 11, 1956, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Herrington III and Nancy Harmon Herrington Ewing.

Ruth Ann was a graduate of Boyle County High School and Eastern Kentucky University. She was an educator and librarian at Hazard Independent Schools for 32 years.  She was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church where she was baptized at 13 years old. Ruth Ann served in various leadership roles in the Logan-Whitley Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution for many years and was also a member of the Wilderness Road Chapter of Jamestowne Society. She was also an avid reader, but her greatest joy was serving her family.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Jo (Jerry) Gibson; 2 nephews: Marty (Kristen) Gibson and Brice Gibson (Alyssa); great-nephew, Sam Gibson; and great-niece, Lucy Kate Gibson, all of Danville.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. Private burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the UK Markey Cancer Foundation, 115 Waller Avenue, Suite 204, Lexington, KY 40503 for the wonderful care they provided Ruth Ann. W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
