Obituary

Sonya Jean Fletcher, born on July 7, 1960 joined the Lord on August 11, 2024, at the age of 64. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, but her love & spirit will continue to live on in the lives she touched.

Sonya grew up in Glomawr, Ky where she was known for her warm smile & kind heart. It was there, in the fourth grade, that she met the love of her life, William Taylor Fletcher Jr. From childhood sweethearts, they became inseparable and deeply devoted to one another. And in 1981, they vowed to spend their lives together, and for over four decades, they did just that, creating and raising a beautiful family and supporting each other through all of lives up's and downs. Exactly what they vowed to one another.

Sonya's greatest joy in life was her family. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her three beautiful children, Dustin, Brandon, and Whitney. Her children were the center of her universe, and she poured her heart and soul into ensuring they grew up surrounded by love. Sonya was not just a mother; she was their best friend, their confidante, and their biggest cheerleader. She was always seen with her children in tow, creating memories and sharing countless moments of joy and laughter.

Sonya's love extended beyond her immediate family. She cherished her role as a grandmother and found immense happiness in the presence of her grandchildren. Each grandchild had a special place in her heart and they kept a smile on her face, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Sonya is survived by her beloved husband, William Fletcher, whose love and partnership were the foundation of her happiness. She leaves behind her cherished children: son Dustin and his wife Jamie Fletcher, son Brandon and his wife Shaina Fletcher, and daughter Whitney and her husband Ryan Hubbell. Her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure, will forever carry her love in their hearts.

She is also survived by her devoted mother-in-law, Della Fletcher, and her loving brother Larry "Tootle" Ritchie. Sonya shared a special bond with her siblings-in-law Carla & Marshall, Marietta & Doyle, James & Jackie, and her cousin Carolyn Horn. A host of cousins, nieces, and nephews will also miss her dearly, as she held a special place in each of their lives.

Sonya was preceded in death by her grandmother Nancy Smith, her mother and father Patsy and Larry Ritchie, her father-in-law Taylor Fletcher, her brothers Dwight and Chris Ritchie, and her cousin Jackie Grigsby.

Sonya Jean Fletcher lived a life of compassion, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the countless lives she touched. She was a shining example of what it means to love deeply, and her memory will forever remain in our hearts.

Rest in peace, Sonya. Your love and light will continue to guide us until we meet again.

If Roses grow in Heaven
Lord, please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my Mother's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her that I love her and miss her,
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for a while.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it every day,
but there is an ache within my heart
that will never go away.
