Suzanne Levora Kershaw Price, age 71 of Hazard, Kentucky passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024.  She is preceded in death by her parents Anna and Alva Kershaw and her three brothers, Mark, Tom, and Mike. She leaves behind one sister Marciette, two daughters, Gwendolyn (Charles) and Lindsay (Brian) and three grandchildren Cherise, Laci, and Cameron as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews who she often took on one of her many adventures.

Suzy never met a stranger, probably because she spent her childhood as an Air Force brat making friends all over the world. She often told stories of her childhood adventures while living in Scotland, Germany, & Japan. In the US, Suzy lived in Illinois, Missouri, Georgia, California, & Texas, before her family settled in Hazard, Kentucky where she was a graduate of Hazard High school.

In her early career, she worked at Blue Diamond Mining & UPS while she studied for her nursing license on her breaks. Once she became an RN she dedicated her life to rural health and the community of Hazard. Noticing the lack of paramedics in Hazard, she coordinated the first class of emergency medical responders. Her job as an RN took her to India where she trained nurses and even did a little sightseeing. She continued her lifelong love of learning and became a nurse practitioner. There was never a holiday or family dinner that didn't include Suzy getting a call from a patient (she always gave her cell phone out). Her passion for nursing was contagious, inspiring her younger brother, daughter, niece, and countless others to follow in her footsteps and pursue careers in nursing and healthcare.

Her children are often stopped by her patients letting them know Suzy Price had saved their life or a life of their loved one. Suzy was dedicated to serving her community in many ways, whether it was traveling to Washington, DC, to advocate before Congress or collaborating on research to find the best at-home care for rural residents.

When she wasn't working, she enjoyed traveling the country and world with her dear friends as well as relaxing in the company of her children and grandchildren.

In keeping with Suzy's wishes, funeral services will be private. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather and truly honor the remarkable life she lived. Details will be shared with friends and loved ones as plans are made.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider volunteering time or make a donation to their favorite charity in Suzy's honor.
