Obituary

Tennessee Stacy born July 14, 1943 passed away peacefully on Monday May 25, 2026 at the Prisma Health Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, Tennessee surrounded by his daughter and grandchildren.  He was welcomed to heaven by his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, his beloved high school sweetheart and wife of 62-years, Joyce Marie Smith Stacy and his parents, Columbus & Alma Mae Smith Stacy.  Other than his wife and parents, Tennessee was also preceded in death by his brother & sister-in-law, Kelsey "K.C." Stacy & Lois Ann Wells Stacy; nephews, Danny Lynn Stacy and Timothy Paul Stacy; cousin by marriage, W.H. Neal Combs; aunt, Willa Faye Smith Stacy.

Tennessee grew up on the family farm in Pigeon Roost, Kentucky where he attended a one room schoolhouse and later became a 1961 graduate of M.C. Napier High School, the first of his family to receive a diploma.  He was on the starting five of the Navajo Basketball Team all four years.  Tennessee married his high school sweetheart and shortly after welcomed their daughter.  Tennessee was retired from the L&N Railroad, where he worked as a carman for 25-years, making lifelong friends.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, boating and target shooting, but mainly staying at his home at Grapevine, Kentucky.  He was a member of the Davidson Baptist Church and a faithful sponsor of the St. Jude's Children Hospital.

Tennessee loved the Cincinnati Reds baseball team.  He spent many of his years hunting & fishing the rivers and lakes in Kentucky, Michigan, Florida, and Tennessee.  He treasured the annual "Brother" trips where he was a prankster and main cook.  He valued his time fishing with all his family, especially all of his grandsons.  He even helped his first born great-grandson, Tyler catch his first fish at Buckhorn Lake.

Tennessee Stacy leaves the following relatives to cherish his memory: daughter, Janet Joa Stacy Noble of Maryville, TN; grandchildren, Jarrod Brandon Noble, Sr. of Knoxville, TN, Jacqlyn Stacey Noble of Maryville, TN and Jacob T. Monroe Noble of Maryville, TN; great-grandchildren, Tyler Monroe Noble of Ocala, FL, Jarrod Brandon Noble II of Knoxville, TN, Connor David Noble of Knoxville, TN, Londyn Rylee Noble of Knoxville, TN, Hannah Grace Noble of Maryville, TN, Jenna Grace Noble of Maryville, TN and Sylias Cash Noble of Maryville, TN; two brothers, Bondy Lee Stacy & Johnnie Faye of Chelsea, Michigan and Quentin Tyler Stacy & Zola of Hazard, KY; cherished cousin, Clayton Stacy; also a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends survive.

Funeral Services for Tennessee Stacy will be conducted on Saturday – May 30, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Clayton Stacy officiating.  The Interment will follow in the Smith Cemetery located at Ary, Kentucky.  The Visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Saturday from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M.  Everyone will be invited to the Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park at 6:00 P.M. for food and fellowship, and then at dusk a Lakeside Floating Lantern release, all are welcome to attend to honor Tennessee's life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place – Memphis, TN 38105.
