Obituary

Vernon Campbell, 80, of Lancaster, KY passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY. Born on June 28, 1945 in Hazard, KY to the late Charlie and Martha Gibson Campbell.
Vernon was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Carolyne Campbell. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran who carried his service's discipline and dedication into his work as an auto mechanic. He worked for over 20 years at Man O' War Ford Dealership in Lexington, KY. He was the ultimate handyman; there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He was a man who had a passion for farming and gardening, who loved working with his hands and getting in the dirt. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his loving wife, Carolyne Stollings Campbell of Lancaster; four children, Bernadette Pittman of Stanford, KY, Elizabeth "Betsy" Poynter of Danville, KY, Robert Campbell (Bobbie Sue) of London, KY and Wesley Campbell (Christie) of Middleburg, KY; two brothers, Roland Campbell and Arlie Campbell; nine grandchildren, Christian Poynter (Kaitlyn), Macey Nicole Campbell, Matthew Poynter, Briana Dunn (Eli), Chloe Campbell, Madison Campbell, Tommy Renner, Katelyn Campbell and Abby Campbell; two great-grandchildren, Annabeth Walls, Elise Poynter and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Martha Campbell; and four siblings, Wanda Baker, Raleigh Campbell, Herman Campbell and Donnie Ray Campbell.
A one-day service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, KY.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Larry Bailey officiating.
Active Pallbearers are Robert Campbell, Welsey Campbell, Christian Poynter, Matthew Poynter and nephews.
