Virgil Lee Sampsell born February 27, 1959 departed this life on Thursday August 17, 2023 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard being 64-years old. Virgil was born in Hazard, Kentucky the son of the late Elige Sampsell and the late Murrell Stidham Sampsell. Virgil was a Life-Long Resident of Hazard, A Member of the Krypton Volunteer Fire Department, Hickory Gap Pentecostal Church and Freemason. Virgil loved attending Church, Camping, and Fishing.

Virgil Lee Sampsell leaves the following relatives to cherish his memory: Wife of 43-years, Ann Sampsell of Busy; Sons, Virgil Wayne Sampsell & Joanna Sampsell of Buckhorn, Ronald Lee Sampsell & Heather of Krypton, Nicholas Patrick Sampsell of Krypton; Brothers, Roger Sampsell of Hazard, Robert Sampsell of Hazard, Arthur Sampsell of Hazard; Sisters, Mary Ann Akers of Hazard, Debbie Sampsell of Hazard, Louise Blansett of Hazard, Bonnie Uhl and Wanda Parker; Grandchildren, Christopher Anthony Sampsell and Alyssa Sumner. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends survive.

Funeral Services for Virgil Lee Sampsell will be conducted on Sunday August 20, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Larry Gross officiating. The Interment will follow in the Hickory Gap Cemetery located at Busy, Kentucky. The Visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Sunday from 12:00 till 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations towards the funeral expenses.
